Any cane or even a broom stick for that matter, can be used as a tool in self-defense. All of our canes except the dojo canes are made from the same wood stock, depending on the type of wood you choose. All are capable of being used in self-defense and personal protection methods taught by the American Cane system, the American Cane Self Defense System, the RDT System and others. The difference is going to be the attributes on the cane itself that make it a more effective tool. In other words your average broom stick and your average walking cane are great and you can protect yourself with them. But your walking cane is not generally equipped with the sharp horn necessary with many of the moves you will learn in one of these systems. Where the personal protection canes and tactical canes come with a sharper horn, and a variety of effective carvings on the shaft that make it a formidable personal protection tool.
